Merv Griffin

Ireland

Former talk show host and game show producer, most famous for "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune". Merv currently possesses an empire worth an estimated one billion dollars.

Built in 1784, and situated on 45 acres of rolling hills, this classic Georgian Estate was once called "the most beautiful house in Ireland" by former owner, John Huston, legendary film actor and director. During his time here, such celebrities as Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Montgomery Clifft, Peter O'Toole, Marlon Brando and others gathered.

Today, Merv Griffin has completely restored the estate to its original splendor. All twelve deluxe guest rooms are individually decorated with a blend of luxury, tradition, imagination and period furnishings with many mementos of its glamorous Huston past. The Anjelica Suite (Anjelica Huston lived here as a child) is in a restored mews alongside the main house, and was a playroom/studio in the Huston days.

The Griffin Suite was originally John Huston's bedroom, and still has gilt taps in the shape of swans' heads in the bath, and the huge walk-in wardrobe installed by Huston, as well as the original limestone fireplace.

Meals are beautifully prepared and served with charm, complemented by an excellent wine cellar. Fare includes Irish breakfast.

Trout-filled river, Par 3 Golf Course, hunting, horse racing, waterfalls, mountain biking along the narrow roads. Walks through the lovely grounds, or riding at a nearby equestrian center.

Exclusive: Entire estate is available for your special occasion. VEX
