Bed & Breakfast: Former estate of Dennis Hopper, built by Mable Dodge in the 1920’s.
After three husbands in a span of 40 years, Dodge left a sophisticated talented husband, an Italian villa, and a fifth Avenue apartment for New Mexico, where she married Tony Luhan, a Taos Pueblo Indian. When Mable and Tony built their hacienda, they changed the character of the area forever. Celebrated artists, writers and thinkers of the day: D. H. Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, Greta Garbo, and a flood of others flocked to their rambling abode.
Dennis Hopper purchased the property with money earned from Easy Rider in 1969, and the hacienda became a scene for a new breed of talented thinkers and artists like Kris Kristofferson, Alan Watts, and Jack Nicholson. The stories these walls could tell!
