Inn: Former house of Robert Morris, built in 1710. Riverside, 2 acres on the waterfront with a private beach.
Built prior to 1710 by ships’ carpenters with wooden pegged paneling, ships’ nails and hand-hewn beams. The original house of Robert Morris still stands as an architectural beauty. Famous guests include President Washington and wife Martha, Christopher Reeve, Linda Hamilton, and Lee Majors. James Mitchner rated the homemade crab cakes as the best he ever had.
35 guest rooms, all with private baths. Rooms are decorated in a romantic picture-perfect country setting; some with huge four poster beds (one with a three-step climb), gleaming hardwood floors and country rugs. The huge impressive dining room murals were painted by an unknown French artist and made from wallpaper samples from 140 years ago.
Tennis, golf, bicycles, seasonal river swimming, sailing and fishing nearby. Award winning restaurant. Adults preferred.
